East African Healing Services (EAHS) currently provides professionally and culturally competent Adult Rehabilitative Mental Health Services (ARMHS) to refugees and immigrants in the metro area who suffer functional impairments from symptoms caused by trauma and mental illnessWe are excited to add an additional and much-needed substance abuse disorder program beginning October 1st, 2019. This program will focus on providing culturally specific outpatient assessment and treatment for adults diagnosed with a substance use disorder.  Additionally, the program will provide education and prevention services to the community.

Treatment Services

The East African Healing Services SUDS program will provide non-residential, outpatient treatment services for adult clients with a substance use disorder diagnosis and their families.  Treatment services are provided by a culturally competent multidisciplinary team of mental health professionals and Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselors (LADC).  Specific treatment services are designed to meet clients’ individual needs regarding level of care intensity, age, gender, and other cultural experience.  Quality of client care is our highest priority and is addressed proactively.

Services Provided:

Comprehensive Assessment: Clients are provided with comprehensive substance abuse and mental health screening and diagnostic assessment and referral services
Individual and Group Counseling
Drug Screening: Random weekly drug screening will be used to support client accountability.

Referrals to mental health services
Peer Recovery Support
Culture-specific tracks: Cultural tracks are developed to address specific cultural issues reflective of client cultural believes; gender, age, ethnicity, professional status, experience of trauma

Clients are assessed by a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) and referred appropriately.

EAHS’ culturally responsive treatment services are unique to any other providers in the metro area because our staff members share similar languages, religious beliefs, cultural traditions, and customs with our clients. EAHS is authorized to deliver Adult Rehabilitative Mental Health Services (ARMHS) Substance Abuse services and Case management Services.

We have staff who are very knowledgeable and culturally educated to determine the right treatment for clients with diverse backgrounds. Each member of our staff are professional and understand what it takes to be addiction free.
